Pottery Classes

THURSDAY POTTERY CLASSES

Thursdays, 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Per Class Fee: $30.00

Six Block Fee: $150.00

Clay Fee: $30.00

Come join us on any Thursday for an exciting time creating with clay and socializing with friends. HAHC Pottery Studio welcomes pottery students of all experience levels and all ages to come and enjoy individual lessons within a group setting. Explore hand building as well as wheel throwing and extruding, you decide the area of interest you want to study and teacher Terry Buffington will be there to help guide you on your clay journey.

The single session is great if you are unsure clay is for you but you have always wanted to try it.

The six-block of lessons can be used during any Thursday Pottery Class. The 6 lesson option need not be used on consecutive weeks, use them as you have the time to do so, every other week, once a month, etc. This option gives you plenty of flexibility to match your pottery classes to your schedule.

You have a choice of either a brown or white 25lb bag of clay. The clay fee covers the clay, glazes, and firing of your pieces.

PRIVATE POTTERY LESSONS

Thursdays, 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

Reservations must be made at least one week in advance

Lesson Fee: $75/person

Supply Fee: A small amount of supplies are included in your class fee. If you desire a larger quantity of materials you may use your own or purchase additional from the Arts Center. If you do not have your own mask & gloves these will be provided for you upon arrival.

During this time, we know there are concerns over social distancing and protecting ourselves from COVID-19. We also know that life does not stop and the creative inspiration in all of us has not been silenced. In an effort to give you a safe space to explore your creative muse, we are offering Private Pottery Lessons. You will receive one-on-one tutelage from Terry Buffington, Pottery Studio Director & Teacher.

Private lessons are designed for local residents that want to continue their clay journey outside of a group setting. If you are visiting the area and wish to explore pottery, you may sign up, but please be aware that pottery takes several weeks to complete a finished product from scratch. Visitors may prefer to sign up for a Pottery Painting Party instead.

During your 3-hour class, you may focus on any area of pottery you choose, including:

  • Throwing on the Wheel

  • Ceramic Jewelry Design

  • Glazing Technique

  • Building with Clay Slabs

  • Making Dinnerware

  • Mold and Pattern Making

  • Pinch Pots

  • Glaze Making

  • Learning Kiln Control

  • Creating with Coils

  • Using Colored Slips
