Holiday Treasures Honored Artist

Annette Garmon (left) holds one of her pottery pieces as she and Anna Wilkins (right) stand in front of the paintings Ms. Wilkins has on display. The two share honors as featured artists at Helen Arts & Heritage Center's "Holiday Treasures" show for 2011. The show will be up until the end of December and the public is welcome.

Potter Annette Garmon and painter Anna Wilkins were honored at a gallery reception at the Helen Arts & Heritage Center on Thurdsay evening, October 27. The two are some of the artists whose works are featured at the Center's current art exhibit, "Holiday Treasures." Visitors were treated to light refreshments as they viewed a wide variety of artwork by HAHC members. The show will be open until December 30, 2012. Gallery hours are Thursday through Monday from 12:00 noon until 4:00 p.m. There is no admission charge and the public is cordially invited.

Stars and Stripes Chair Benifits Caring Hands Health Clinic

Eubanks

Bold Stars and Stripes decorate the chair artist and former Health Information Administrator Marlene Eubanks painted for Caring Hands Health Clinic. Ms. Eubanks is one of six Helen Arts & Heritage Center artists who volunteered to paint Adirondack chairs to benefit the Clinic.

Helen Arts & Heritage Center Artist Marlene Eubanks proudly posed with the "Stars and Stripes" chair she painted to help raise funds for Caring Hands Health Clinic in Cleveland. Ms. Eubanks is one of six HAHC artists who have used the same style Adirondack chair as a personal canvas to raise money for Caring Hands, a free clinic that serves low income and uninsured persons with chronic conditions.

Ms. Eubanks, a former registered Health Information Administrator, is a multi-disciplined artist who has worked in fiber, mixed media, watercolor and clay. "I chose the flag theme to show my support for our veterans, and for my Marine family heritage." Marlene's grandson, Pfc. Donald R. Eubanks III, currently serves on White House security duty. All six chairs will be raffled on December 15. Tickets can be obtained from HAHC in Helen or the Caring Hands Health Clinic, located in the old Cleveland drugstore on the Square.
